JIEUN OH
Oh Ji-eun graduated from the Master's program in Painting at Kookmin University in 2019 and is mainly active in Seoul. The artist seeks to capture the fluidity of images through painting, with a primary focus on the subjects that painting aims to represent. This has involved depicting the perspective of an outsider looking at others' lives or extracting her own memories, embracing the dynamic changes. Starting from the acknowledgment that closeness to the subject is impossible, she reads the world by capturing only the 'reachable moments.' Therefore, to encapsulate passing emotions, she engages in the 'impossible task' of preserving them. Despite recognizing that painting cannot perfectly reproduce reality, the effort to constantly recall and return to emotions, even as they fade and distort, is akin to trying to grasp vanishing landscapes.
