Although my works have an image of ‘City’, they also discuss capitalism. A city has two different sides. Although a city may seem splendid, beautiful, and stable, the problems of capitalism such as victims from urban development, rich-poor gap, and materialism are easily found in the city we are currently living on. However, instead of emphasizing such problems of capitalism and negative elements of the city, my works use a method of ‘Paradox’. While the works express capitalism as sweet materialism for people and express city in splendid, stable as shown from the far distance, the works also create 3-dimensional illusion through the assembly of worthless value and metal beads rather than high-quality jewel.

The works made of LED also uses paradox. The LED works express the cold and vain city of worthless value metaphorically by expressing a seemingly beautiful and splendid city through lights on transparent acryl hole.

The early works generally expressed the image of night view by putting metal beads on a blue canvas. To me, the image of a splendid city seen from apart felt lonely and empty. The image of the city was also cold and I felt like a stranger in the city I live in. My works made by putting metal beads on canvas tried to express the excessive splendidness such as the dizzy neon signs in the city. Although the audiences would be attracted to such splendidness, the assembly of metal beads hide the negative parts with the splendidness of night and resembles the city of vain value. The works visually express the image of the cold and modern city by penetrating the lights of the city on transparent acryl and installing LED BOX. In addition, the works focus on illusive space by using the mirror on the background. Furthermore, the works install two mirrors to express the image of the infinitely repeating city and examine the fictionality and illusions of the city
